Q. How do I contact an assessment center to get started?

You can call or email the contact listed on our website. Tell them that you are interested in becoming MSSC certified and ask when the next course begins.  If you have trouble, just contact the CPT representative, and we’ll help you!

Q. How much does it cost?

The cost of CPT certification varies by school. Many schools have tuition assistance or job training funding programs, so always ask if there’s a way to get financial assistance.

Q. How long does it take?

It depends on the program.  Some schools offer the program in their regular for-credit course catalogue. Others offer it as a non-credit course that can be delivered in a few weeks or months. Ask the school to explain which options are available at their site.

Q. Can I receive college credit for this certification?

Yes. The National College Credit Recommendation Service (NCCRS) recommends four hours of credit for the full-CPT certification courses. Colleges are not required to provide credit, but many do, especially if they are NCCRS members.

Q. If I have logistics experience, do I have to take a class to become certified?

No. In order to earn a CPT certification, you must take and pass the assessments. MSSC does not require you to take a specific class or training program. (Please note, some schools may require you to be actively enrolled in order to participate in their testing activities.)

Q. What jobs can I expect to be qualified for after achieving CPT credential?

The number of job positions you can apply to with your CPT credential have increased over the years. For more information, click here to see the list MSSC has put together for you.

Q. Where can I obtain a practice test?

Practice tests are included in the MSSC CPT eLearning system. However, if a candidate does not have access to the CPT eLearning system, pages 12-19 of MSSC CPT Candidate Handbook provides the relative importance of each content domain on the certification exam. When preparing for the exam, candidates should spend proportionately more time studying the content domains that are more heavily weighted.Pages 20-22 include sample questions and answers for your reference, these questions will not appear on any CPT assessment.
