MSSC delivers its CPT curriculum through three types of courses to meet various individual and training needs. These courses are designed (a) to align with MSSC Standards and (b) to help individuals enhance their core knowledge and skills for production work from entry-level to mid-technical level.
These courses are built upon MSSC’s baseline “Integrated Course,” which is the most comprehensive and efficient course for covering all four of MSSC Standards’ critical work functions (Modules) including: Safety, Quality Practices & Measurement, Manufacturing Production & Processes, and Maintenance Awareness. Course materials include the Glencoe McGraw-Hill/MSSC textbook and manuals, MSSC’s computer-based simulation training to cover MSSC Standards for Basic and Technical Skills, and other knowledge and skills needed for production workers to be prepared for an advanced, high-performance manufacturing environment.
Some courses are delivered in a “blended” environment, with about half of the material provided in an instructor-led setting, and the remainder provided through on-line computer-based simulation training provided by MSSC. MSSC also offers fully online versions of these courses in an abbreviated “Fast Track” mode designed especially for experienced incumbent workers. Typically, trainees require ninth-grade math skills, 10th grade English skills, and basic computer skills to be successful in passing MSSC courses.
The MSSC issues a password and user name to each registered student. To qualify for the high school (HS) rate, high school students will need to provide a state student high school ID number.
The three types of courses offered by MSSC as follows:
NOTE: Education and training institutions require adequate broadband to deliver MSSC’s computer-based simulation training courses. IT departments at those institutions should check with MSSC prior to ordering courses. If they have insufficient band-width, MSSC will need to charge a set-up fee, up to $1,000, for an initial “hybrid” IT installation, with a $400 annual maintenance fee thereafter.
