After taking its lumps in job decline for years, the manufacturing sector seems to be leading the growth in employment as the recovery begins to unfold. This panel will discuss ways that Pennsylvania is integrating public programs to provide an infrastructure that offers a platform for this important industry in the Commonwealth to grow.

NASCO Conference in Winnepeg, Sept. 25-27, Includes Workforce Focus
NASCO, a strong coalition of companies and governments promoting the efficient, secure and environmentally enhanced movement of goods throughout the North American Corridor, is holding its annual conference in Winnepeg, Manitoba, Sept. 25-27. With workforce development along the Corridor as one of its top three priorities, NASCO is promoting the widespread adoption of MSSC’s foundational – level Certified Logistics Associate (CLA) credential and mid-level technical Certified Logistics Technician (CLT) training and certification system.
MSSC CEO Leo Reddy will participate in a plenary panel on workforce development.

MSSC launches the first industry-recognized, nationally portable credential focused entirely on enhancing the green production skills of front-line production workers in all sectors of manufacturing. It will thus go beyond the manufacture of green products per se (e.g., solar panels, wind turbines) to enhance the "greening" of the entire manufacturing sector of the economy.
